Sister Act Cake Boutique was never my dream!!! I've always loved to bake, however, it was something I simply did for family.When my Father in Law passed away in 2015, life changed with my Mother in Law's Alzheimers diagnosis... I needed to find a way to work from home to help Brian with her care... Oddly, the summer before, I entertained the idea of cake decorating and even spent the summer taking cake decorating classes from Michael's... I felt like a professional, and was thrilled when I sold a birthday cake and wedding cake... I was quickly humbled when I made my grandson's birthday cake and managed to misspell Birthday... "Happy Birday"!!! Some professional I turned out to be!!! I discovered the Professional Bakers Program at Spokane Community College in Washington and decided to enroll... A year long program that proved to be the most enlightening and educational experience for baking and cake decorating... I was hooked and decided to become a legitimate business... I applied for a business license, had a company develop my logo, so it would be my own, and eventually had them develop my first website... I started in the storage room downstairs in my Mother in Law's home with a handful of supplies and tools and spent the first several years building a customer base and business... My sweet husband gave me all the resources I needed to grow to where I am now... He has been an incredible support, even learning the cake language and becoming the best delivery driver EVER!!! 2023 proved to be another eventful year when we lost my Mother in Law and we were faced with moving... It was a tough decision to leave Washington state and all the wonderful customers I'd met along the way... 10 years worth of heartwarming experiences... Customers who became friends, ones I laughed with and cried with... November 6, 2023 we left the life we'd known for so long and moved to Rexburg, Idaho starting Sister Act Cake Boutique all over again... I may not have brought all my customers with me, however, I brought my 10+ years of experience and most of all, my love for what I do... To those who are still on this journey with me, THANK YOU...
